From Dublin Airport/Northside Dublin

From Dublin Airport follow signs for M50. Leave M50 at Junction 11 approx 15 miles/25km from the Airport and drive towards Tallaght. Follow signs

 

Via West/South West Dublin

  • Bypassing Tallaght take the N81 to Blessington.
  • From Blessington proceed to Baltinglass, then left onto the R747, (a good well sign-posted road) to Kiltegan.
  • From Kiltegan take a sharp right and follow signs to Hacketstown.
  • Entering Hacketstown Supervalu Supermarket will be on your left. Proceed across the supermarket to an unmarked street taking the road to Knockananna (5km).
  • Proceed through village, exiting on road signposted Moyne / The Old Schoolhouse (keeping 1798 Memorial on left, thatched cottages on right) and from here its 2.5km.
  • Continue along this road until you reach a junction (you will pass over a small bridge and you will see a beautiful old building on your left).
  • We are located to the immediate left of the junction on the right hand side.
 

From Dublin via the Mountain Route / "The Wicklow Way"

  • Leave Dublin via N11 and travel to Kilmacanogue.
  • Exit the N11 just after the Topaz Petrol Station following signs for Roundwood and Glendalough.
  • Drive through Roundwood and Annamoe and on to Laragh.
  • From Laragh turn left at Lynham's Hotel on to the Rathdrum Road (R755). You will travel across a narrow stone bridge. Take the next turn right clearly signposted Glenmalure Lodge / Military Road. Continue along this road for 8km until you reach a junction. The Glenmalure Lodge is located on the immediate left of this junction.
  • Drive through junction following signs for Aughrim. After another 9.5kms, passing through Aughavannagh, you will reach a yield sign where the Rathdangan road joins from left.

You have two choices

Turn left at the yield sign and continue along this road over a small bridge where you will reach another junction signposted Ballymanus and Askanagap. Take this narrow road (right) and continue up to Askanagap. Ballymanus GAA club will be on your left handside. Keep on this road and do not turn off following the Wicklow Way signposts all the way in the direction of Moyne. You will arrive at a sharp sloping hill leading down to Moyne which is signposted The Old Schoolhouse Hostel. We are located at the bottom of this hill opposite a row of lovely old cottages.

Or

Continue (towards Rathdangan) for 0.4miles/0.6km and take the unmarked single track road forking left. From here continue for 3.8miles/6km passing firstly through a Stop sign (follow brown Wicklow Way sign pointing forward) until you reach another Wicklow Way signpost here and a Old Schoolhouse Hostel sign. Turn right and proceed downhill until you reach a row of small cottages. We are opposite these cottages on an elevated site. Total distance from Laragh is 16 miles/25km.
